Daemon Tools collects unsolicited mountstatistieken’

The developer of Daemon Tools is accused of being privacy-sensitive information to raise with his eponymous mountingtool. The MountSpace-module, that data collects about linked images, would not turn off.

The blog WithinWindows is reporting that Daemon Tools Lite, the free version of the popular iso-mounttool, through the MountSpace-extending a hash create of each paired image. This information is then forwarded to the servers of MountSpace. In spite of the option to during the installation of Daemon Tools Lite to indicate that a user does not appreciate the service, would MountSpace still in the background, gather information about the ‘mountgedrag’ of a user.

Daemon Tools is often used for copied games and software accessible to and unsolicited mountstatistieken, perhaps even including ip addresses, is collected. There is, therefore, according to WithinWindows, there is a privacy issue.
