Several gamers complain on the forums of Battlefield 3 that the pc version of the game unplayable. Users get a ‘Corrupted File/Memory” error, lose their connection, and the game will not start.
The cause seems to lie in the anti-cheat software Punkbuster. In the topic it is suggested that the version of Punkbuster that on the server side is rotated does not match the version that the clients use. Because Punkbuster requires that the server and all players have the same version of Punkbuster, that cause problems. This declaration targeted solutions, such as completely removing and re-installing Punkbuster, seem, however, not for all gamers and/or all of the servers to work. Electronic Arts and ontwikkelstudio DICE have not yet responded to the problems.
Update, 14:41: The problem is on the server side by some simple modifications in configuration files to do so. Tweaker Tsurany reports that GoTBF3.en servers are now stable running.
