Nokia, more phones and smartphones in Asia lwa. In a Finnish factory, where, for example, the N9 and Lumia 800 are put together, from the end of 2012, no phones more assembled. Nokia was forced to lay off 4000 jobs.
The reason is that the production of phones in Asia are significantly cheaper than in the factories in Finland, Hungary and Mexico. The decrease of the production in the ‘western’ factories must lead Nokia into the future once again becomes profitable, says the manufacturer. The mobieltjesmaker suffered in 2011, a loss of 1.2 billion euros, despite the fact that the money received from Microsoft for using Windows Phone and Apple for the use of patents.
The reduction of the manufacturing in Finland, Hungary and Mexico is the next step in the development of Nokia for its production more and more to Asian countries to move. Especially cheaper models were over the last few years in Asia put together, and it seems that especially the top models are still produced in Europe. The employees in the factories were already a few months in uncertainty, because Nokia is already in september, according to Finnish broadcaster Yle said that it is the role of the three plants to reconsider.
In the factory in Salo, Finland, from the end of this year, not devices more assembled. Devices such as the N8, E7, N9 and Lumia 800 will be made, says the manufacturer. At the factory in Salo, where 2,000 people work, is the half of the jobs on the tour.
