Micron has released a new series of economical memory ge lwa device that primarily suitable for tablets and ultrabooks. The chips on the modules have a very low standby power consumption and are available in 2Gb and 4Gb versions available.
Since ddr3 memory, just as all the volatile geheugensoorten, takes energy data, reducing the power consumption of memory in portable equipment important to battery life to extend. The term that manufacturers use for this is IDD6, or low self-refresh power. The fuel-efficient variant of ddr3 memory, ddr3l memory, is by Microns with an even more economical variant afgetroefd. Micron calls the memory ddr3lm, which aims to bring down the idd6 power.
According to Micron, the 2Gb ddr3lm chips to fifty percent in self-refresh mode than standard economical ddr3l memory. The 4Gb chips would to 3.7 mA is sufficient to handle their data in this mode to hold on to, but speeds of up to 1866MB/s. In comparison, Micron’s own 4Gb, 1866Mhz ddr3l chips devoid 22mA in IDD6 mode. That low standby power possible to make the chips in Microns 3xnm process to be produced.
The first ddr3lm chips are, however, already sampled, and in the second quarter, the production lines start to run. Micron is expected mainly to supply to producers of tablets and thin and light laptops and ultrabooks.
