The computerleveringen in Western Europe in the fourth quarter of 2011 compared to 2010, with sixteen percent. Asus and Lenovo knew more systems to deliver, but with the latter of that is due to the Medion acquisition.
The whole West-European market has to contend with a shrinking pc market, reported Gartner research. The computerverkoop in the last three months of 2011 decreased as compared to the period a year earlier, with sixteen percent. Lenovo knew still significant growth note: 13,9 percent. This is for a significant part due to the acquisition of Medion, in June last year. Also introduced Lenovo’s aggressive pricing to gain market share. The deliveries of Asus laptops rose by one and a half percent. On the other hand, Acer, 46,1 percent lost and also the market leader HP has performed with a decrease of 15 percent not best.
The figures include both laptops and desktops. Tablets will not be counted. “Despite considerable price reductions, spend, consumers pay more attention to smartphones, tablets and e-readers,” said Meike Escherich, an analyst at Gartner.
In the United Kingdom in 2011 were more than 2 million systems less sold than in 2010 and the fourth quarter, with a decline of more than 19 percent, the worst in times. It is remarkable that Apple to 17.2 percent of computers sold in the fourth quarter than in the same period the previous year, the manufacturer from Cupertino has now a market share of 9.1 percent in the country. The French sold slightly more systems than the British, but the reduction was nevertheless almost twelve percent over the whole year. Also in France increased the supply of Apple computers in the fourth quarter, with around fifteen percent. Acer struggled again with a heavy decline in deliveries of up to 45.5 percent.
Germany recorded the least loss, with a decrease of 8.2 percent over 2011. Here scored Dell the best with an increase of 12.5 percent in the fourth quarter. Big loser was another Acer, this time with a 27.5 percent.
