AMD: IBM recommends, but does not provide chips for us

AMD denies the recent reports that IBM is a part of the apu’s of the company would produce. According to AMD, there is a cooperation with IBM, but would the latter only has an advisory function to have around the 32nm-proced lwa.

Earlier this week came out that AMD is a part of the processorproductie to be found had a chip maker, IBM. AMD ceo Rory Read had been at a meeting for analysts said that both IBM and GlobalFoundries ‘partners’ in the production of its processors. That comment, however, was misinterpreted, says AMD.

IBM would be involved in the development, but only in an advisory role, reports Xbit Labs. GlobalFoundries, the company that the majority of processors for AMD, experienced the past year, problems with the 32nm process that AMD’s chips to be made, which resulted in disappointing yields. IBM would then be enabled to GlobalFoundries to help solve these problems.
