Facebook and Google have acknowledged the requirement to content of their websites to delete. An Indian court had laid down that ‘offensive’ content should be removed. Twenty other companies should follow.
Both Google and Facebook have all content removed for religious groups offensive, reports Reuters. In a trial in New Delhi for different social-networking sites, from the beginning of december, accused of objectionable content to host. In the case, said the court, the judgment from that websites like Yahoo, Facebook, Google, Orkut, Microsoft and YouTube preventive content have to delete that, according to the Indian law objectionable. This is especially antireligious content itself. Two of the lawsuits that are underway against the companies are filed because of images that for hindus, christians and muslims ‘offensive’ would be.
Main reason for the litigation is legislation that states that websites are responsible for the content of their users. In case of complaints they have to the content in question within 36 hours and remove. Because the companies here have not yet had met, they were required to write a report that makes clear what actions they have taken against hateful content. Facebook has that report now submitted. Google says measures have been taken, but according to not about the report.
The judge threatened all the web sites that the Indian legislation does not follow to block, just as China does. The Indian communications minister announced that legislation comes as a result of the court decision. The government wants an automatic removal of offensive and objectionable content, but none of the 22 companies passed to the automatic filtering of content. According to Google India, it is impossible to content from millions of people in the world to pre-screen. Facebook shared only with users from objectionable content can report.
