Facebook promises that the all of the photos that users in their profile deleted within a few months of his servers will pick up. Even pictures taken by users in 2008 are deleted, are still visible to anyone who has the url of the photo.

According to Facebook it is a bug in the system, leaving old pictures on the servers. The migration to a new system will ensure that the photos that users have deleted from their profile is also deleted from the servers. They were already no longer visible on the profile of the users, but who have the exact url of the images had kept, she could still see.

The announcement of Facebook comes as a result of an article of Ars Technica about the non-deleted photos. It is not a new complaint of users; Ars wrote three years back for the first time. After a second article in 2010 were only the non-deleted photos referenced in the article linked to was deleted from the servers.

Even after migration of the new system can take up to a month and a half delay before the offending pictures really are offline. A lot of people delete photos from Facebook because they regret that they ever have placed. The Ars article cites among others the example of a father who, in april 2008, posted the photo of how his toddler naked about the yard freely. It is unclear how many deleted users’photos, even online.

It is not the first time that Facebook discredited hits because of an error in the system. Some time ago showed that even shielded photos on the social network visible if users report abuse. Including screened photos of Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg landed on the street.
