Analyst: more smartphones than pcs sold in 2011

According to market research firm Canalys, there are in 2011 more smartphones were sold than pc’s, something that has not previously occurred. Several smartphonefabrikanten posted quarterly results with record sales in the past year.

Canalys claims on the basis of his figures that there are almost a half a billion smartphones were sold in 2011, while pc sales remained stuck on 414,6 million pieces. Compared with 2010 there were last year, up 62.5 percent, more smartphones sold, where the number of sold pc’s, where tablets were counted, with only 14.8 percent increased.

According to Canalys running of the sold smartphones almost half of it on Android. Apple’s iOS is a distance second place with a percentage of 19.1 percent. Symbian fell to the third place by 16.4 percent, while BlackBerry follows with a percentage of 10.4 percent.
