Test with intelligent network mobility will improve

Road service and taxi’s in the city of Helmond will take part in a trial with an intelligent traffic network of chip maker NXP. With the network data about the car and the driving behaviour is analyzed the flow of traffic and to improve safety.

The practical test is a three hundred cars from the road service and of Cibatax equipped with a system that is reading data and transmits to a central server that the data analyses. Through the server, may include data as speed, remgebruik, speed and lichtstatus be viewed. The system collects, for example, information from the abs sensors, from which the friction coefficient can be calculated. It can be deduced which do not weigh enough sprinkled. Directors can then quickly be warned for slippery sections of road.

The traffic network works with a simple transmitter-receiver system. Newer cars are equipped with a can bus, which all kinds of information about the different auto parts collects. In the practical test, the car’s also equipped with a uCAN-module of uCAN Solutions. This module collects the data and sends them to the servers of uCAN. Users can have their data on that server to consult.

The cooperating parties are NXP Semiconductors, IBM, Beijer Automotive, Nokia, TASS, TU Eindhoven, TNO, ANWB, CibaTax, KPN and Rijkswaterstaat. They reported this technique for the Brabant in-car project, in which four in-car systems are tested. With the trial the participants the flow of traffic and improve safety on the road increase.

Minister of Infrastructure Schultz inaugurated the technology in the AutomotiveCampusNL of 30 January, in the framework of the project to Better take advantage of which 71 million will be spent on solving verkeersknelpunten in Noord-Brabant.
