Tamron is going to m4/3-lenses develop

Olympus has announced that lenzenfabrikant Tamron join the Micro Four Thirds standard has connected. Also Kenko Tokina, lensaccessoires, and Astrodesign have joined the consortium added.

Tamron makes currently, primarily zoom lenses, but also a pair of prime lenses, for Canon EF – and Nikon F-mount. This month brings the first NEX lens, the Tamron 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Di III VC. With the support for the m4/3 platform extends Tamron are stage in the lensmarkt for compact system cameras.

The support also means a hefty windfall for the m4/3 platform. For the m4/3 system is, in fact, a large number of lenses from Olympus and Panasonic are available, but the advent of third party lensaanbieders of the m4/3 standard to a broad-based cameraplatform with a spacious lenskeuze. Olympus and Panasonic are the only providers of m4/3 cameras.

Tamron is not the first third-party-lensfabrikant that is connected to the m4/3 organization. Competitor Sigma went Tamron for and at CES, including a 19mm f/2.8 and 30mm f/2.8-m4/3 lens announced.

Also Kenko Tokina, the largest manufacturer of lens filters, and Astrodesign have subscribed to the m4/3 platform. The Japanese Astrodesign makes more 4K video cameras with a Nikon F and now also m4/3 mount, and also has recording systems for 4K video developed.
