Symantec: Anonymous has source code pcAnywhere stolen

Symantec has confirmed that Anonymous, the source code of old versions of Norton security products in your hands. Also the source code of Symantec’s pcAnywhere-management tool would be stolen, and users would be at risk.

The theft, according to Symantec back in 2006 already occurred, and the source code would also be a part of the versions of that time involve. According to Symantec, users of the respective packages, Norton Antivirus Corporate Edition, Norton Internet Security and Norton SystemWorks, no risk. The stolen code would be only 5 percent of the final Symantec AntiVirus 10.2 product part and now there would be many changes.

This would not apply to the tool for pc remote control pcAnywhere. Users of version 12.0, 12.1 and 12.5 and earlier may be at increased risk. Symantec recommends users to the software, so that the potential risk is minimal, all of the patches and the application to turn off unless it is really necessary. Anonymous took until this month to be in the possession of the source code and the organization threatened it freely available.
