RuneScape developer wins lawsuit of botmaker – update

Jagex, the developer of the popular mmorpg Runescape, has filed a lawsuit against Impulse Software won. Jagex won Impulse for the court because of the iBot, that by Impulse, which was developed and sold.

After a legal battle of two years to win Jagex, the lawsuit against Impulse software was instituted, writes GamePolitics. Impulse, the company of the brothers Mark and Eric Snellman, developed the iBot for Runescape. The software performed the automatic tasks, and achieved higher levels for the in-game characters controlled it. The use of bots is usually in conflict with the general terms and conditions of mmog’s.

The judge ruled that the brothers Snellman an obligation to pay damages to Jagex, and doesn’t allow the two men to bots to develop games from Jagex, help others and to make about the lawsuit. Also to the brothers all websites, domains, source code and customer lists to the game developer to hand over.

Compared to GamePolitics says Jagex ceo Mark Gerhard to be satisfied with the outcome of the lawsuit. Jagex has campaigned longer against bots on Runescape. In november banished to the developer, 60 percent of the active accounts that were guilty of the use of bots or goldfarming.

Update, 17:15: from documents of the court show that Jagex and Impulse of a mutual agreement reached. The judge has not ruled.
