Microsoft has a plug-in released for Visual Studio 2010 that enables achievements to earn with programming. Just like their counterparts on the Xbox 360 console to deliver these milestones are points and scores can be compared on a leaderboard. The plug-in also makes it possible to achieve achievements to share on Twitter and Facebook.

The Channel 9 team, that the plug-in has created, it was inspired by a blog post on the site of developer While True, and the subsequent discussion on Reddit. With the plug-in are 32 achievements to obtain, which are divided into six categories. The concept put not only Microsoft to develop, the Belgian professor Tim Dams and Danish software developer Jones Swiatek made a similar plug-in for Visual Studio. This is, however, still in a alfafase.
