Philips shows vending machine with transparent touch screen

Philips has the Integrated Systems Europe trade show in Amsterdam, an experimental vending machine is shown with a large transparent lcd touch screen. Through touch can the desired drink to be selected.

Behind the glass of the vending machine, Philips has a large lcd-display, whereby the backlight completely is omitted. By means of two sensors taps on the screen, be noted that the whole glass surface works as a touch screen. If there are no transactions to be carried out on the vending machine, it displays a transparent lcd-display animated advertisements, while making a choice a simple menu can go right through.

Philips wanted on the ISE are still no technical details about the precise functioning of the vending machine and the software used, because it is still going to be a prototype. The electronics group promises a few months more to be able to tell. It is also not yet clear whether Philips plans to enter into a partnership with the producers of koelautomaten or soft drink manufacturers.
