Nokia sells more than a million Lumia phones

Nokia has in the publication of the quarterly figures reported that more than a million units of its Lumia phones has sold. The Finnish manufacturer began last quarter with the sale of two Windows Phone devices.

The sales of the Lumia phones to meet what analysts had expected. Nokia, however, could not prevent the in the fourth quarter of 2011, a total of less smartphones sold. The total sales amounted to almost 20 million units, while in the same quarter last year, 28.6 million smartphones were sold. This is mainly due to a significant decline in interest in Symbian phones.

In the previous quarter and earned Nokia a turnover of around 10 billion euros, significantly less than the 12,65 billion euros in the same quarter last year. This resulted in a loss of almost a billion euros. In the next quarter, expect the manufacturer to income and expenditure balance sheet to be able to keep.

Nokia brought its first Windows Phone device, the Lumia 800, in the previous quarter. The device marks a huge turning point for the Finnish company, which was previously said to focus on Windows Phone, where in the past, especially devices with the own Symbian released. Nokia went for this purpose a partnership with Microsoft. The figures show that Nokia in the last quarter, 180 million euros from Microsoft got for what ‘platform support payments’. The Finnish company will receive this amount probably each quarter paid.
