“Intel is working on improved storage technology’

Intel would intend to make its storage products for business use of an update. So the company would this year have been Rapid Storage Technology have to take, inter alia, with an update for Windows 8.

The new version of Intel’s Rapid Storage Technology, or RST should support trim and garbage collection for ssd’s in a raid array to offer. For single ssd’s were those techniques already supported, but with the new version, that functionality has been expanded to solid state drives in raid 0-, 1-, 1+0- and 5 systems. Also, in version 11.5 a scheduler for the control of the integrity of a raid array adding to and repairs at regular intervals are carried out.

The 11.5 release is intended for, among others, new Series 5, 6 and upcoming Series 7 chipsets for Clarkdale – and Lynnfield-based processors, for the current Sandy Bridge processors and the upcoming Ivy Bridge generation. Older chipsets, such as the Core 2 Duo generation and X58 motherboards are supported, reports VR-Zone. The first alfaversies of 11.5 are already released, but officially must RST 11.5 somewhere in the course of the first half of this year.

Later in 2012, as Windows 8 once released, a new version with Windows 8 support released. This 11.6 version would be largely equal to 11.5, but would a few Windows 8-specific features. A firmware update to all of the chipsets to make it suitable for Windows 8 would also be in the barrel sit.
