Google will let users login without password – update

Google has made it possible to log in without a password. The inlogmethode, who is working with a qr-code, is intended mainly for public computers, which the user does not know whether there is a keylogger on it.

The method requires that the user is logged in with his Google account on a smartphone. On a special login page, which on the pc has to be opened, generate Google qr-code. With a smartphone to open, the user whether it is okay to use a pc on his account is logged in. After approval makes the qr-code for Gmail or iGoogle.

The inlogmethode is designed for public computers where the user does not want to trust that the computer is free of keyloggers. The biggest drawback is that users have a smartphone with internet access will be. That internet connection is necessary for the remote user to login and the permission to pass.

Google warns on the page that the service is experimental and so at any time offline can be achieved. It is unclear whether the search giant the inlogmethode in the future as an alternative want to use for login with user name and password.
