Customers UPC complaining about slow connections – update

Since a week, it is raining complaints of UPC customers about intermittent internet connections. The users complain about non-loading pages and slow connections. In some cases, barely half of the speed achieved.

On various forums, including GoT, is already a few days complained about faulty UPC connections. The problems seem to be nationwide; the complaints come from a variety of places, scattered over the entire coverage area of the kabelaar.

Although in many cases it is a normal connection, images, and web sites are sometimes not or badly loaded. After a few times the page to have to refresh, does this all of a sudden, so complain many users. Another complaint is that subscribers for about a week, in some cases significantly lower internet speed. Several customers complain that they have less than half of the maximum speed of their subscription goals.

In a reaction to user forum Chelloo.com let a member of UPC in a klaagtopic of more than fifty pages to know that the matter is being investigated. Also, customers are asked to include a ping and a traceroute to deliver ‘probleemsites’.

Nothing is yet known about the possible cause of the problem. Several customers point to a recent firmware update of their modem as a possible cause. UPC says the matter seriously, but can not indicate whether the firmware leads to problems or that something else is going on. “It has our full attention,” said a zegsvrouw.

Update 18:42: UPC release to Tweakers.net know that some ‘adjustments’ in his network were causing the issues. The kabelaar don’t want to say what changes exactly have been made. However, the UPC that it had contact with some of the customers that suffered from a slow connection to the internet and that they confirm that the problems are fixed.
