Co-founder of Yahoo, leaves immediately

Jerry Yang, one of the founders and former ceo of Yahoo, will leave the company immediately. Yang says in a statement that he after 17 years, time to find other things to focus on. Yang’s position within the company was already under pressure.

Yang will leave the company immediately, and also ends his positions at Yahoo Japan and Alibaba Corp., a Chinese internet company in which Yahoo has a significant interest. That share is probably the main reason that Yang left the company, writing both AllThingsD and The New York Times.

Yahoo is considering namely to his share in Alibaba of the hand do, to so financially stronger. With the money, would Yahoo be able to prevent investment companies Silver Lake and TPG Capital too much influence. The companies that rattle the port of Yahoo with investment proposals in exchange for influence. Yang sat on the board of directors of both Yahoo and Alibaba, and did allegedly nothing for such a deal.

Yang founded Yahoo in 1995 with David Filo. From June 2007 to January 2009, he was ceo of the company. After Yang a takeover bid from Microsoft declined, he stepped back as ceo. His successor, Carol Bartz, in september last year, was shown the door. The current ceo of Yahoo, Scott Thompson, that eBay was responsible for the PayPal division.
