American HTC has a hidden antenna for the Dutch gsm networks

The Rezound, the only HTC so far with 720p screen, appears to be a hidden antenna for European gsm and umts networks. According to the specs works the device only on the networks of the American provider Verizon.

The specifications of the Rezound mention only support for cdma and lte, but the phone also works just in the Uk on the network of T-Mobile, notifies a user of XDA-Developers. The Brit had the Rezound purchased from an American and tried to him to get his own sim card. Data and call works, just like receiving sms. The sending of sms messages is not possible. T-Mobile in United Kingdom on the same frequencies as Dutch providers, which the Rezound probably also works in the Netherlands.

The Rezound is the first HTC smartphone with 720p screen and came exclusively from the Us carrier Verizon Wireless. Verizon only works with cdma and lte networking technologies that are not in the Netherlands are used. The processor in the phone is a Qualcomm MSM8660. The MSM8660 has an option for receiving gsm and umts signals.

It is not unusual that a cdma phone is also an antenna for gsm and umts, for roaming in other countries. Because the feature is important for customers who travel a lot, it is often widely advertised as a ‘world phone’. It is unclear why HTC and Verizon support gsm and umts do not call.

The Rezound looks a lot like the Sensation XE: he has a 4.3″ Super LCD like the XE comes with a pair of headphones from Beats Audio. It is not the first time that a HTC after release appears to have additional features to include. The HD2 showed more working memory than have HTC called: instead of 448MB there was 576MB of ram in the device. Nokia has also done: the Symbian phone C7 appeared after the release about the wireless technology nfc.
