Attackers have the source code of two old software packages from Symantec captured. They made the information loot to a third party; Symantec would not be affected. The hackers claimed Norton source code have been stolen.
Symantec has compared to Security Week admitted that hackers source code of software, have captured. It comes to out-of-date business software packages: Endpoint Protection 11.0 is four years ago, released and Antivirus 10.2 is no longer supported. Still, the incident is embarrassing for a company that has its own security software is specialized in.
The source code would not Symantec themselves pickings are made, but by a third party. The hackers themselves say that they have the data stolen from the servers of the Indian army. Why that over the source code of Symantec’s products should have, is unclear. Was this a requirement of the government to verify there is no backdoor in the software is built.
Incidentally, contradict the claims of the hackers with that of Symantec. The hackers claim that they have the source code of the consumer version Norton Antivirus have disappeared, but according to Symantec this is, therefore, to other packages.
