The company Warpia has a module released which makes it possible to any hdtv with a webcam. In addition to the ConnectHD SWP400VC wireless video streamed from a laptop.
The ConnectHD should be using an hdmi cable with an hdtv to be connected. Then with the supplied usb-dongle via a laptop connection to be made with the webcam. So can the tv be used for video chats to keep, for example, via Skype or Live Messenger. In addition, it is possible to from a laptop video content to stream to a hdtv, while the television also can serve as a second desktop.
According to Warpia has the ConnectHD on a 720p webcam with a wide angle lens and a multi-directional microphone. The maximum distance between a laptop and the ConnectHD-module would be 10 meters. The wireless video signal will be encrypted with 128bit aes encryption.
Warpia will ConnectHD to demonstrate at the CES trade show in January, but the manufacturer aims to have new product for christmas market. The module has a suggested retail price of $ 200.
