“Toshiba working on Android tablet with Tegra 3′

Toshiba presumably works on an Android tablet powered by the new Tegra 3 soc from Nvidia. This is evident from benchmark results of the program AnTuTu, which emerged in an online database.

The results were noted by the site ubergizmo. The scores are linked to a device with the name ‘Tostab06′. Toshiba used already such code names for its tablets. The device scores in the AnTuTu benchmark 10384 points, which is almost equal to Asus’ Transformer Prime which is a quad-core Tegra 3 soc from Nvidia.

AnTuTu is one of the few benchmarks that almost linearly scales with the presence of multiple processor cores. Scores higher than ten thousand with a dualcore device never achieved. It also lists the database that the processor used is 1.4 GHz clocked, which corresponds to the maximum clock speed of the Tegra 3.

Toshiba announced earlier this year at the IFA in Berlin also already have an Android tablet, the AT200. This includes a Omap 4430-soc from Texas Instruments and would actually at the end of last year. The company gave the release, however, perhaps to the tablet, equipping it with the latest version of Android.
