Sony sells 321.000 PlayStation Vita’s first weekend

Sony has, according to a research in the first two days that its newest handheld, the Vita on the market, 321.000 copies managed to sell. The sale of Sony’s portable gaming console began last weekend in Japan.

The figures come from research firm Enterbain, reports Reuters. With 321.000 copies sold in the first weekend does the Vita not as good as Nintendo’s latest handheld. Nintendo knew of his 3DS in the first weekend 371.000 copies to sell. According to Sony, however, it is important to see the sales over a longer period of time to maintain a high level. Competitor Nintendo gave earlier this year a profit warning, since there are less 3DS handhelds over the counter went than the company had estimated.

The PlayStation Vita is the latest portable game console from Sony and is the successor of the PlayStation Portable. The Vita features a 5″-oled touchscreen, a quad-core ARM processor and a powerful gpu, PowerVR. Games are controlled by two analog sticks, four front buttons and two shoulder buttons. The Vita comes out in February to Europe.
