Oracle sells less software and hardware than expected

Oracle sells this year are likely to be less Exadata machines than expected. It also includes the recent quarterly results; the profit from sales of hardware decreased by fourteen percent and also the sales of software fell against.

Oracle earned in the second quarter of this financial year a net profit of 2.2 billion; an increase of 17 percent compared to a year earlier. Yet the results; Oracle earned fourteen percent less on hardware, and 953 million euros.

The earnings from the sale of software licenses rose 2 percent to 2 billion euros, but analysts had previously an increase of 10 percent or more expected. The operating profit amounted to 3.1 billion dollars; an increase of 12 percent.

It is with disappointment reacted to the results, according to Reuters, may indicate a reluctance among companies. That would be technology-expenditure delay. That the results of Oracle’s disappointing, is an exception; it was in the last ten years has not occurred.

According to Oracle ceo Larry Ellison fall the results at because it at the very last moment was not able to set some customers to pick up. He indicates, however, that Oracle may not succeed in making a previously set goal, the doubling of the number of Exadata machines in this financial year to achieve.

Oracle sold in the first quarter of 200 Exadata and Exalogic machines. The annual number of sales to double, in the next six months another 800 are sold. Probably takes Oracle only half of that number.
