Onkyo was the first manufacturer av receivers announced with support for InstaPrevue technology from Silicon Image. Also support the 2012 models mhl for playback of audio and video from a smartphone or tablet.
With InstaPrevue technology, it is possible to have a picture-in-picture preview in the picture to show on the av receiver connected hdmi sources. Users do not have to remember which hdmi port devices are connected, but can with the remote control of the receiver on the videothumbnail clicks.
Onkyo is coming 2012-av-receiverlijn also the first with support for mobile high-definition link’, or ‘mhl’. This new standard makes it possible to use a cable to 1080p video with hdcp support and up to eight channels of digital audio from a smartphone or tablet to play.
Also, the connected device via mhl to be charged and can be operated via the remote of the av receiver. The Samsung Nexus S II and the Galaxy Note, and a number of HTC models offer support for mhl.
Onkyo has no specic models for 2012 announced, but might leave the company a first glimpse of this at the CES 2012 trade show, in early January in Las Vegas.
