Researchers have found a mutation discovered of the Ramnit worm that the target has on Facebook users. The malware now has the account information of more than 45,000 users of the social networking site intercepts.
The Ramnit worm has been around since april 2010 and has now several targets. After the worm initially, it had provided on the ftp-login data, threw away the malware in August last year about a different approach by active financial login credentials to try to intercept.
Seculert has now a new variant of Ramnit was discovered that Facebook users have coined. According to the researchers, the malware called Ramnit.C, this reasonably successful: in the meantime would the worm have managed the data of 45,000 Facebook users to steal. Although the malware all over the world to strike, there seem to be particular many reports from Great Britain and France.
Seculert suspect that the attackers ‘hijacked’ Facebook accounts to use malicious links to the contacts of affected users in an effort the malware continue to spread. The security researchers have Facebook already of their discovery, informed, and a list handed over of the compromised accounts. It is not known whether Facebook action has been taken.
