LG is showing 55″-oled-tv at CES

LG shows at the CES-consumer electronics an oled panel with a diagonal screen size of 55 inch. It is the largest announced oled panel, though it is suspected that competitor Samsung at CES, a 55″tv with oled screen show.

The 55″screen is the largest in its kind: there is still no oled panel with such a diagonal screen size on the market. According to LG, the main screen offers a contrast ratio of over 100,000:1, a wider color gamut than lcd panels, and a thickness of just 5 millimeters.

In november plunged all the rumor that LG at CES, next month, a 55″-oled-panel would announce. A tv with that screen would have for the Olympic Games next year should be announced. Also Samsung would plan to use a tv with a 55″-oled-panel on the market, in time for the Olympic Games.

Oled panels are currently expensive. LG manufactures oled screens other than Samsung: the LG panel is composed of white oleds with a layer of a color filter. Samsung uses rgb oled subpixels.
