The Chilean government doesn’t allow a sim lock on phones. Therefore, users must always be of the telco provider can change. Phones now have a sim free of their security to be stripped.

The ban on simlocks goes on 16 January, writes the Spanish-language site Wayerless. Providers in the country now have web portals set up to phones to unlock it using a generated code. Those sites require that a user’s data, such as imei number to fill in. Then a code can be entered to the sim of the device.
