Developers have managed to get apps for iOS in 720p get working on a gejailbreakte Apple TV player. The developers demonstrate Facebook, Maps, Safari and YouTube in a video. Most of the apps from the App Store would work.
Developer Steve Troughton-Smith showed Friday that he had succeeded without AirPlay iOS apps to run on its second-generation Apple TV player. He made use of the MobileX window manager for iOS of co-hacker TheMudkip and MobileLaunchpad of ‘chpwn’. The apps then changed, however, is still not fullscreen
In a follow-up video of Saturday late Troughton-Smith claims to see. Because Apple TV does not have support for a touchscreen and there is also no support for the remote control, he makes use of VNC and ssh to apps to start. He demonstrates, among other things, the iOS apps of Facebook, Maps, Safari and YouTube in fullscreen. Most apps, including games, from the App Store would work through his method. However, there is still a lot of work to do, witness a crash.
