Researchers at Kaspersky have discovered that Stuxnet and Duqu may be part of a platform that at least five viruses would exist. That would appear from the registry keys where Duqu and Stuxnet are looking for.
Components of Stuxnet and Duqu look for two registry keys to each other’s presence to be able to perceive. Kaspersky now has a new component and have discovered that both viruses are present, and seeking at least three other registry keys, reports Reuters. That would indicate three similar viruses.
Previously claimed to Symantec, the creators of the Stuxnet virus, that would have been used in attacks on Iranian nuclear power plants, also responsible for the Duqu virus. According to Kaspersky are both viruses from the same ‘platform’ for the making of such viruses, which desired components can be added and removed.
Previously gave the Iranian government that the Duqu virus has been found on Iranian computers. Duqu would despite its major similarities with Stuxnet a different purpose: where Stuxnet scada systems tried to regulate, would of Duqu are mainly used for the extracting of information. According to some, the United States and Israel are behind the virus, but the hard evidence for that proposition has not yet appeared.
