BlackBerry-maker RIM should be in Canada for the court because of the use of the acronym BBM. RIM uses this as shorthand for BlackBerry Messenger, inter alia, in the recently in the Netherlands, ge lwa ntroduceerde service BBM Music.
The indictment was filed by BBM Canada, a company in the French-speaking province of Quebec that collects data about tv viewers. The company has first attempted to conclude an agreement with the BlackBerry maker. When that failed, is BBM to the right stepped, reports the newspaper the Globe and Mail.
RIM has tried the brand name BBM but that was not successful, so the newspaper. The name was not open for registration, presumably because BBM Canada is the rights on has. RIM is BBM recently more use as an abbreviation for its messaging service BlackBerry Messenger. So this year came the service BBM Music, a service that allows BlackBerry users to music to be able to exchange contacts.
The BlackBerry-maker offers no comment on the matter, next month for the judge. RIM had recently announced the name of its new operating system BBX adapt to BlackBerry 10, because another company’s brand name claimed to have, and an American judge would go with her.
