BlackBerry increases price PlayBook tablet

RIM has the price of the 16GB and 32 GB version of its PlayBook tablet in the United States increased. The price of the 64GB version is reduced. All versions now cost 299 dollars. It is unclear whether the Dutch prices to move.

All versions of the PlayBook cost now on the site of RIM 299 dollars. This is only the 64GB version is cheaper now; that would be since november 399 dollars. The increase in the price of the other two models is likely to be the result of the growing popularity. By the lower prices were the tablets much more sold than before.

It is unclear what the increase means for the prices in Dutch webshops. The 16GB version of the PlayBook now costs less than 200 euros. Where is a need for more stores that price used, has now only one store the tablet for that price in the offer. The tablet of RIM is therefore since a couple of weeks in the Pricewatch one of the most clicked products, a sign that the popularity increases.

The U.s., the price of the PlayBook is at right angles to the trend of the last months, with tablets of many manufacturers, especially in price were reduced. Including the Sony Tablet S, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9, HTC Flyer and HP TouchPad went on sale.

The PlayBook runs on BlackBerry Tablet OS, a derivative of RIMs new operating system BlackBerry 10. The PlayBook has a 7″screen and runs on a Texas Instruments Omap4430-soc. Thanks to an emulator can also Android apps on the tablet running, though the installation thereof, as yet, a fairly complex process.
