A presentation of AMD, where the performance figures of the upcoming HD7970 video card, has been leaked. From the slides it appears that the new high-end card of the manufacturer, on average, approximately 45 percent faster than the GTX580 from Nvidia.

The slides come from a so-called Benchmarking Guide, which AMD sends out to people that the new video card to test. In the twenty-one page document gives AMD benchmark data of a large number of modern games. The HD7970 is set against a HD6970 and a GTX580 from Nvidia. Because it is a AMD prepared document, the results with a grain of salt to be taken. For example, the graphs because of the scale on the y-axis, a distorted picture and to assume that AMD is test games which are maps from the bus.

Nevertheless, know the HD7970 impressive results. In a collection of modern games, including Shogun 2, Crysis 2 and Battlefield 3, AMD’s latest card is between 1.2 and 1.6 times as fast as the GTX580 from Nvidia. In the Extreme version of 3DMark 2011, the map is 29 percent faster than the GTX580. In some titles, such as Skyrim on large settings, know the GTX580 and the HD7970, however, well to keep.

According to AMD, the new HD7xxx cards with the Graphics Core Next architecture a lot faster in tesselation than their predecessors, that have the vliw4 architecture use. In some cases the new set is four times as fast. Also the CrossFire efficiency would be improved; in the by AMD tested games is the scale factor always between 1.8 and 2.

The guide also reports data that were achieved with the HQV2-test. This is a look into the performance of hardware decoding and processing of video material. Out of a maximum score of 210 know the 7970 is 200 points. The GTX580 scores according to the tests of AMD 182 points.
