Second Room is against downloadverbod

The state secretary Fred Teeven desired downloadverbod doesn’t seem like a majority in the Second Chamber to be able to count. Mps would fear that internet users are subject to prosecution and that the privacy is compromised.

Pauline Smeets of the Dutch Labour party mentions the introduction of a downloadverbod ‘downward path’. According to the politician would be not only the privacy of internet users in danger, but it would be for a citizen is also difficult to assess whether, for example, a downloaded movie is legal or not.

Also CDA mp Madeleine van Toorenburg sets compared to news agency ANP that the ‘small user’ in a downloadverbod the risk for the judge to be towed. GroenLinks Member of parliament Mariko Peters is van Toorenburg there in and even declares that the ‘not more of this time is’ to be royalties per download or per book to pay for it. However, Peters, that new rules must come to the position of authors and musicians facing publishers, broadcasters and record companies to strengthen.

Wednesday will be the Second Room to argue about the plan of secretary of state Fred Teeven to a downloadverbod. Also want Teeven to the thuiskopieregeling abolish. It is unclear yet whether that last proposal can count on a Kamermeerderheid.
