Renault is working on tablet with TomTom for cars

Renault is going to be a tablet release for use in its cars. The mobile device is made in collaboration with TomTom, and focuses on navigation. The release is around the end of the coming year is expected.

The R-Link tablet during a special event announced and contains, besides navigation of TomTom, several multimedia applications. In addition, there are several apps on board, which are specially developed for use in the car. Read, for example, the email application receives incoming messages while the user is driving. There is in 2012 an sdk available that developers of applications for the R-Link can make.

There is also a communitydienst on board that car drivers can use parking spaces. The application allows the user to notify if there is somewhere a space is available. The necessary data comes from other users of the R-Link, which it is not probable that the service in the short term, useful.

Renault autotablet has a 7″screen, but the hardware on the inside was nothing published. Also, it is not yet clear when the release exactly takes place; the car manufacturer is aiming for the end of next year.
