Qualcomm has launched two new processors announced that manufacturers can use cheap smartphones. The dualcore soc’s should make it easy for manufacturers to software written for old processors to porting.
The soc’s have as order MSM8225 and MSM8625 inherited. They fall under the S4 line of processors from Qualcomm. The soc have two processor cores each with a clock speed of 1GHz. The graphics processor is an Adreno 203, which on paper is less powerful than the Adreno 205 gpu which was used in the processor for the HTC Desire HD and Nokia Lumia 800.
The new soc should manufacturers make it easier for drivers and software for old processors to porting. Software that is written for the MSM7225 and MSM7227 processors can without much difficulty be transferred, according to the chipmaker. The MSM7227 is the processor in many budgettelefoons, such as the ZTE Skate, Samsung Galaxy Ace and HTC ChaCha.
These processors have a Krait-core, a processor core that the old Scorpion core by Qualcomm to follow. Qualcomm does not use the Cortex A8 and A9 cores from ARM. The processors are in the course of next year to the manufacturers sent. Devices with dualcore soc’s will come out probably late next year or early 2013.
