Toshiba is mid-december a 32″tv release in the standby mode no power is consumed. This is made possible by the use of Toshiba’s new Eco Chip and a capacitor with a large energieopslagcapaciteit.
The Eco Chip in the new tv, the Regza 32BE3, listens to the signals coming from the remote control. Is the tv turned off with the remote, the tv physically from the mains supply is disconnected by means of a relay. The tv consumes no power. Press the user again press the power key, the electromagnetically-operated switch is turned.
In the stand-by mode the Eco Chip is fed by a in the tv built-in capacitor with high capacity. This chip has enough of a flow of 95µA, since only the ir-receiver “active” and the relay should be operated. It is not known how large the capacity of the in the tv built-in capacitor is and how long this state-by-state sustained.
The Regza 32BE3 in addition to the 0W-standby also two energy-saving modes adjust the brightness of the led backlight, respectively, 50 and 75 percent. According to Toshiba, the picture is adjusted to the lower brightness, so that not too much is lost on the color reproduction.
It is also possible to automatically enter the Eco Standby Mode to turn once for three hours the tv is not operated or during a quarter no input signal the tv is receiving. Partly due to the used Eco Chip and the power-saving modes would be the tv, 23 percent consume less than the Regza 32A2, the predecessor of the Regza 32BE3. The annual energy consumption of the Regza 32BE3 would 45kWh amounts.
The tv, which has a resolution of 1366 by 768 pixels, is as yet only released in Japan. It is not known whether the tv also to Europe. In the predecessor that was not the case.
