MTV Mobile goes much prices increase. Instead of ‘packs’ with calling minutes, sms and data customers now have the choice of separate packages for internet and calling/texting. A ‘pack’ which is now still 40$, 50 euro cost.
The price increase is evident from tables with price info available to a tweaker, and that the editors can understand. With the increases in prices, mainly for cheaper subscriptions following MTV Mobile the policy of KPN, that this summer prices elevated. MTV Mobile is a joint venture of the music channel and KPN-daughter Hi. The ‘packs’, where customers for a particular amount of minutes, texts and 1GB of data will disappear. Especially low-cost subscriptions are more expensive; it is impossible to get a subscription for less than 35 euros per month. Subscriptions of around 80 euros remain the same in price.
MTV Mobile will work with packages. Customers can choose for a certain amount of data, and choose a “belpack” with voice minutes and sms messages. It is mandatory to have a package with both data and call minutes, and sms to take off. In addition, there remain options exist if a text message-doubler, and 250MB of extra data. With more expensive subscriptions is the internet speed also significantly increased, from 3.6 to 14.4 Mbps.
KPN, which the spokesman does for MTV Mobile, confirms the new prices of subscriptions to MTV Mobile on Tweakers.net. “We want to focus on people who want to access the internet on their smartphone,” said spokeswoman Renkse Algra. For that reason, people may have a bundle of 2.5 GB of data, combining it with a package with 100 calling minutes and 50 sms according to the telco.
The new subscriptions are sold by 12 december. Until that time the cheaper packs have to be purchased. It is unclear how many customers MTV Mobile. The new conditions do not apply to current customers unless they renew subscription.
