LG gives the more expensive smartphones update to Android 4.0

Manufacturer LG gives only its high-end smartphones this year released an update to Android 4.0 ICS. Or cheaper models also have an update to the new version of Android, is not yet published.

For now only the Optimus 2X Speed, Optimus Black and Optimus 3D will be eligible for an update. The Optimus LTE, which is not released in the Netherlands, will also update, says the manufacturer itself on Facebook. The manufacturer wants ‘as many devices as possible’ of an update, but it is still unclear if the cheaper devices also an update will be given.

The aforementioned smartphones are the high-end models that the Korean manufacturer this year has been released. The Optimus 2X Speed and Black came this spring, the Optimus 3D arrived this summer in the shops. LG has, since then, no new models announced. The manufacturer is running since some years the loss on the telefoondivisie. It is unclear whether KS as a result, the same number of models continues to create.

Also it is unclear when the updates come out, but both Samsung and Sony Ericsson have hinted that official updates can wait until the spring of 2012. Only the update for the Google Nexus S comes much earlier, probably before the end of the year.

LG is one of the last major manufacturers of Android-devices, which plans to disclose updates to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. Google released a few weeks ago the source code of the update, and then developers started with creating custom roms for the Google Nexus One and Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy S and S II, T-Mobile G1 and HTC HD2. Android 4.0 will be the first to run on the Galaxy Nexus, a device that Google together with Samsung release. The smartphone should be sometime in the next few weeks out in the Netherlands.
