Judge: Sony violated no law by removing Other OS from PS3

An American judge has the class actionlawsuit against Sony was filed due to the removal of the Other OS option in the PS3 software, be declared inadmissible. According to the judge acted with Sony within the legislation.

In april, drew Anthony Ventura in California a lawsuit against Sony for removing the Other OS functionality in the software of the PS3, which is an alternative operating system if Linux could be installed. When Sony update 3.21 for the console released, were PS3 owners that Other OS used for a dilemma; without the update lost the console access to the PlayStation Network, newer games will not be played.

According to Ventura had Sony not entitled to have the functionality to remove, because the Japanese group frequently promotion for the Other OS feature has been created. Sony weathered by pointing out the general terms and conditions which state that the company at any time, without notice, changes in the functionality of the console should make.

The judge says that the complaints are based on the assumption that PS3 owners have a right to certain features and access to PSN, and that the owners are not forced may be to make a choice between one or the other. According to the judge, is that not the case, and remains a PlayStation 3 without update 3.21 or later a functional product. Although the court says the frustration of PS3 owners used Other OS to understand, Sony has, according to him, no laws are broken. Therefore, ken he, in september, submitted the request of Sony in the lawsuit is not admissible to explain it.
