HTC: German sales ban smartphones is not an issue

HTC says that a ban on its smartphones in Germany is not an issue. The patentbedrijf IPCom wants HTC’s there to prohibit, because the manufacturer does not pay for a 3g patent. HTC says the technology from the patent not to use it.

According to HTC, the how devices deal with 3g changed, so the technology from the patent of IPCom is no longer used. This would be a sales ban of HTC smartphones are not in order.

The patentbedrijf IPCom, that the 3g patent in hands got through the to buy from Bosch, wants a sales ban on HTC phones in Germany, because HTC refuses to pay for a license to the patent. Threatened with a sales ban is a widely-used tactic in negotiations about the use of patents.

The technical workaround to the patent no longer to violate was longer in the planning. After HTC in 2009, a lawsuit lost, pondering it all with chipmaker Qualcomm on a technical solution. It is unclear whether the court in Mannheim agreed with the notion of HTC. When the judge thereof is bent, is also unclear.
