Gfk: sales of tablets in the Netherlands in a year quadrupled

The sale of tablets in the Netherlands in a year’s time, quadrupled. That is according to figures from Gfk, that for all retailers and manufacturers in the sales department. Of all sold phones is now almost two thirds have a smartphone.

The sale of tablets is growing significantly; in 2011, the sale of tablets from around a million. In 2010, the number of tablets sold another 250,000. That is a quadrupling in the year. Apple’s iPad is still the market leader, but the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Asus Eee Pad Transformer also have a small market.

Where at the end of last year, Android was the operating system on 25-30 percent of the smartphones, is now available in more than half. The share of BlackBerry devices declined, while iPhone remained stable. Windows Phone plays no role of significance. In the Netherlands, each year six million phones sold and in 2011 for the first time more smartphones than ordinary phones sold.
