Fujifilm does a firmware update release for the so-called ‘white disc’problem on the X10 camera to reduce. The problem is, according to Fujifilm as a result of blooming that occurs as a charge in the pixels exceed the maximum limit.

The Japanese manufacturer says in a statement to DPReview that the high-end compact camera with a large 2/3″image sensor meets the specified tolerances and that blooming often occurs in digital cameras. However, the company wants to respond to complaints of users about the degree of the blooming at the X10 with a new firmware. This must be the effect of it is reducing.

DPReview has the so-called ‘white disc’problem reproduced in a test with two bright shining sources of light. The X10 is of the light sources to the two larger white circles that overlap. With the same setup was also a photo made with the Olympus XZ-1, a high-end compact camera with a 1/1,7″ccd image sensor, this allows for two separate light sources.

According to Fujifilm, the effect of blooming is to be reduced by the camera on a higher iso-value. Also this operation is by the fotografiesite tested and it appears that only at iso 800, the light sources each separately visible on the photo. The use of higher iso-values has no effect on the blooming-effect. It is not yet known when the firmware update is released.
