The first photos of a bunch of video cards from AMD’s 7900-series are published. It comes to engineering samples with a Tahiti gpu on board. The photos do a 384bit-memory bus suspicion, but the specifications remain guesswork.

Rumors about AMD’s HD 7900 series do for some time, the round and the cards would have too much time to be released. On the forum Beyond3D has someone the first pictures posted of what are likely two HD 7970, or HD 7950’s. It is going to be engineering samples, which in some cases can differ from retailexemplaren.

On the pictures it is in any case clear place for eleven memory chips, while the twelfth is more difficult to discover. With twelve memory chips is almost fixed that the video card on a 384bit-memory bus. Thus, it seems immediately unlikely that the 7900 cards with XDR2 memory may be equipped, as a 384bit-memory bus in combination with gddr5 memory is already an immense amount of memory bandwidth results.

Furthermore, there are solder points to see for achtpins-pci-e-expressconnectors, but are the video cards with an eight – and a zespinsconnector. Engineering samples of the HD 5870 had at the time, also twice of eight solder points, but retailexemplaren had enough to make a eight and a zespinsconnector. The red color of the pcb and the lack of a backplate have to do with the fact that the engineering samples.
