Discriminatiemeldpunt does press charges against Google – update

The Dutch Complaints bureau for Discrimination on the Internet has reported to the police against Google. The company would be discriminatory statements is not fast enough of Blogger and YouTube remove. Sometimes it would that kind of expressions even stay for a year.

Where Google in the past fairly quick to respond to messages, now it takes still longer before a discriminatory message, a Google-site is deleted, the Dutch Complaints bureau for Discrimination on the Internet. Racist statements would now be weeks, months, and sometimes even more than a year online, stay standing before they are deleted, claims to be the MDI.

Opposite NU.nl the MDI indicates that messages in the past, often within a day or two were removed, but that there is now only a reference is made to an automated contact form. Complaints, however, would not be followed. Therefore, the fiu reported to the police of 25 discriminatory statements on Blogger and YouTube.

According to the foundation, the company must its social responsibility. Whether there is actually a lawsuit is brought, depends on the Public Prosecutor.

Update, 18:44: Google says in the press to have read about the declaration of the Hotline. Spokesman Mark Jansen said the declaration has not yet to have been able to study. “We have therefore at this moment still no substantive comments,” he says.
