Android 4.0 for Intel’s Atom soc is ready for production’

Intel reportedly has a x86 version of Android 4.0 ready for its Atom Medfield platform. This would allow smartphones and tablets with Android Ice Cream Sandwich and the Atom chips faster than expected in the shops.

According to PC World, the development phase is already in production and Intel is working all concrete work with manufacturers to the new Medfield-soc in Android devices to process. It is still unknown which manufacturers for Intel hardware. The Medfield chip can also be used with the older Android versions 2.x, and 3.x, but it is likely that manufacturers with new devices, opting for Google’s latest release.

Intel said earlier, the expectation that even in the first half of 2012, devices with Android 4.0 on the basis of Intel hardware would appear. Because the production phase now seems to be started, the first prototypes will soon be able to appear. This seems to be the development to prosper to expire and it is possible that the first mobile devices with the Medfeld-soc earlier than expected to come to market.

It is possible that during the trade shows CES and Mobile World Congress, the first devices will be shown. Find them respectively in January and February. The Medfield-soc is specially developed for use in tablets and smartphones, and is baked on a 32nm process.
