Aldi start selling Android-based tablet with 3g

Supermarket chain Aldi is Saturday, the sales of the Medion Lifetab started. The tablet runs Android 3.2, contains a Nvidia Tegra 2 dualcore and can with sim cards for 3g connectivity to be fitted. The Medion Lifetab will cost 399 euros.

The Medion Lifetab P9514 has a capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280×800 and a diagonal screen size of 10.1 inches. It does not know which panel type is used and what the brightnesswaarde is, but there is a light sensor for the screen brightness to automatically adjust. The device is running Android 3.2 Honeycomb supplied and the Tegra 2 soc powers the tablet.

Furthermore, there is support for wi-fi-n and bluetooth 2.1 and a micro-usb connector, for example, the exchange of files. Connection to a tv and the power supply is via a proprietary connector on the bottom. Medion supplies a micro-usb cable, hdmi adapter cable, earplugs AKG and a protective case. In addition to a 3g module, support for gps is present and also has the tablet on a motion sensor.

There is 1GB ram and 32GB storage memory, which can be extended via the micro-sd card slot. On the front is a 2 megapixel camera, while on the rear a 5-megapixel camera is present. Aldi sells the model for 399 euros, where 3 years warranty will be given.

The eastern neighbours have the tablet already been tested and Heise noted that the Medion is a good price-performance ratio. Tablets with similar specifications from Apple, Asus, Motorola, Acer and Samsung are a lot more expensive, but finds the German site that the 16GB version of Motorola’s Xoom for almost the same price picked up. Computerbild claims to be striking enough that it is the best tablet they’ve ever tested, and the site may even be no negative names.
