Tele2 bundles as possible, forces with kabelaar for mobile network

Tele2 is going to perhaps be together with a kabelaar as UPC or Ziggo mobile network in the Netherlands. Previously it was with Tele2 is still determined to go it alone, but according to a senior official of the Swedish company’s collaboration ‘definitely an option’.

A decision on a possible collaboration is not yet cases emphasized Tele2 at a conference for analysts in Barcelona earlier this week. “The collaboration with a Dutch kabelaar is absolutely an option,” says cfo Lars Nilsson according to telecomsite Total Telecom.

The potential step gives the impression that Tele2, especially the costs that are necessary for the establishment of a nationwide network would like to share with another large company. Tele2, Ziggo and UPC, all three of us have previously, the plan is pronounced to be in the Netherlands a private mobile network. UPC and Ziggo bought together frequentieruimte therefor, Tele2 did that only.

The purchased frequencies in the 2.6 GHz band are not suitable for the roll-out of a nationwide network. The best frequencies to set up a network to build, however, this coming year under the hammer. The chances are that the kabelaars and Tele2 want to get started with the successor of the current 3g networks, the 4g technology lte. Tele2 has, since the summer of last year to the test with lte in Amsterdam-Zuidoost and Diemen, the netherlands.

At the same meeting of analysts repeated KPN ceo Eelco Blok that he is interested in a takeover of the Dutch branch of Tele2. A takeover is not obvious, because KPN than too strong, it would be on the Dutch telecom market, notes Telecompaper.
